| Abstract | Since starting a new role as Head of School in a new university, I have noticed that others have expectations of how I should behave (even what I am expected to wear), what meetings I should attend and with whom, and what I should concentrate on. Most noticeably, I have been implored by everyone from the Vice Chancellor to the administrative staff to ‘change the culture in the school’. The Head of School's job description states, “Through effective communication and leadership, the Head of School is responsible for developing a positive, engaged and inspiring culture among colleagues and an environment of trust, transparency, collaboration and mutual respect.” |
