Abstract

To research the impact of extending the contact time with the tutor by:
• Extending contact time with students using on-line tutor prepared video ‘pre-lecture’s’ to impart basic information that lecture time would otherwise be used up for.
• Use the ‘lecture time’ more effectively to discuss more complex aspects of the topics already introduced.
• Use seminar time more effectively to discuss research, current issues and also skills.
• To extend contact time at the end of the teaching week by using collaboration software to enable students to work together remotely, and to enable them to research topics discussed in seminars further.
