TitleWhat is Fashion? Conference
CreatorsDr Hannah Rumball-Croft, Groves, Andrew and Grose, V.
Description

The Fashion Research Group at the University of Westminster conducted its first International Conference, centred on the theme What is Fashion? Fashion, as both a concept and practice, has long been a site of contention,
transformation, and paradox. Its definition, significance, and impact continue to provoke debate across academic disciplines, from sociology and anthropology to design, marketing, manufacturing, technology, and cultural studies.
We invited 21 contributors to speak to at this international academic conference that explored fashion’s dynamic role in society, particularly the ways that it challenges dominant narratives and conventional understandings. Speakers engaged critically with fashion’s complexities through
interdisciplinary methods and perspectives.
