Description | Artist, Clare Twomey transforms Tate Exchange into a factory making everyday objects from clay to explore ideas around the concept of Production. In week one you are invited to join the production line and learn the skills of working with clay. Your labour will be exchanged for another person's object from the factory. In the second week the factory is redundant and invites the visitor to clock in and consider the role of the human in various forms of production. We will ask where does production happen now? how do we experience it? what production means in the twenty-first century and beyond? Throughout the two weeks you can hear talks from specialists, take a factory tour on the Tate Exchange Floor. The factory is a place to discuss the transactions and transformations of labour that create knowledge and community. In the factory we examine skills and how we form exchanges at work, with ourselves, and with others. |
