British artist Clare Twomey installation Monument examines the use and value of everyday commodities in its collapsing movement, raises contemporary questions of overproduction, overconsumption and recycling. As the introduction to the exhibition The Flames, this installation invites us to revise our preconceived ideas about ceramics, and more precisely about porcelain, oscillating between function and sculpture. By looking at this work attentively, one realises that it’s composed like a painting with a very precise approach to colours and forms.
