|Title||What's Missing in the National-level Managerial Discretion Dimension|
|Authors||Haj Youssef, M. and Christodoulou, I.|
The managerial discretion conceptualisation provides a theoretical focal point that resolves the debate about whether executives matter for company outcomes. Despite the increased interest from scholars and the various empirical findings, research on its national-level dimension is scarce. Majority of studies limits the environmental determinants of managerial discretion primary to the industry characteristics without any consideration for the national context. This paper highlights the importance of the national context particularly countries culture in shaping the degree of discretion available to CEOs.
