Description

A music composition output using prepared audio recordings played back using extreme audio rate settings. Current observations using this novel composition process are the emergence and development of figurations over time that demonstrate phase differences between the various compositional elements. As an approach there are similarities to the tape based explorations of Cage and Reich, of which Reich's pieces 'It's Gonna Rain' (1965) and 'Come Out' (1966). Cage's williams Mix (1959) is also an influence here though the procedural methods used are very different. The process is not real time and requires the preparation of a number of self generated/composed audio files. Future compositions are planned where the process is extended to include additional modulation sources that vary both amplitude and spatial locations.
