Abstract

This study adds new insight into EDI in Law by focussing on where change is happening within the profession and what it takes to make progress on diversity and inclusion. We consider the REACH and Smart Start schemes at Allen & Overy (A&O); Norton Rose Fulbright’s (NRF) Career Strategies Programme for high potential lawyers from black and minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds; the Stephen Laurence Scheme launched by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (Freshfields) in 2013; and the Race for Change programme at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (BCLP). As with the work of the Black Lawyers Group at Latham & Watkins (L&W), these activities aim to promote and support the progress of lawyers from a variety of BAME backgrounds.
