| Abstract | What is the role of academia, the university and live design studios in shaping participatory urban practices and transforming streets into spaces of not only mobility but also wellbeing, sociability and justice? How might university - community collaborations translate practice-oriented pedagogy into urban interventions that aim to transform streets into safer, more sustainable and more equitable places shaped by active mobility? This article reflects on the transformative possibilities of participatory pedagogy and civic practice in the context of street transformation interventions. It does so by examining one such intervention, the co-design of a parklet located in front of Marylebone Library in the London Borough of Westminster, a collaborative exercise carried out as part of the European JUST STREETS project.
